Meet Dr. Charles Payet
Experience the Gentle Touch of a Dentist Who Cares
Hi, I'm Dr. Charles Payet, and I'd like to welcome you to our website.
As you can probably tell from my picture, I'm a guy who loves to smile and enjoy myself. Honestly, I consider myself truly blessed to be a dentist, and for 2 simple but important reasons:
- 1. I love what I do.
- 2. I get to help people every single day.
Really, what more could anyone ask in a profession? Dentistry has entered a Golden Age, as we have a tremendous amount of technology to assist us in making your dental care faster, smoother, more comfortable, easier, and even better, and we're building on the successes of times past. Trust me - I KNOW you don't really want to come see me unless you have to, so my goal is to make your appointments better than you ever thought they could be. I have a genuine passion for my profession, so I am constantly learning from other dentists and post-graduate institutes who are considered the best in the world. My goal is 75-100 hours of Continuing Education every year, even though only 15 hours are required to maintain my license. That is simply what is necessary to keep up nowadays, so I can be sure to provide you with the best care.
Through my travels and online collaboration, I have become part of a group of doctors around the USA and even in some parts of the world who are willing and able to assist patients from out-of-town who are in need while in Charlotte. A list of these colleagues can be found here:
The Dental Referral Network.
A little about me: Born in San Antonio, Texas, my parents moved my younger sister and me to Wilmington, DE when I was about 2 years old, and that's where I grew up for most of my life until college. Since my Dad was a Carolina grad '66 and my Mom graduated from UNC-G back when it was still the Women's College (she grew up in Albemarle, where my grandmother still lives), the only place I ever wanted to attend college was UNC-Chapel Hill, and so I did. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in both Biology and German, after which I continued at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, from which I graduated in 1998. Immediately after that, it was on to Charlotte, and after a short stint in Salisbury, I opened Smiles by Payet Dentistry at the end of 1999. In January 2005, I met the amazing woman who would become my wife: Fara. We have 2 daughters, Natalie and Elizabeth, who keep us quite busy, and our 2 dogs - Lady and Starbucks - round out our household. As you can imagine, with a busy work life and 2 daughters, there's not a lot of free time left for us, but I enjoy photography, ballroom dance, reading, and trying to catch up on sleep, while my wife loves sudoku and gardening. As you get to know us, we hope that you'll decide to become a part of our dental family. All you have to do is Make an Appointment or call 704-364-7069.
